time for another dose of weekly reflections.
enjoyed yz leaders' retreat last weekend at aloha changi. planning and discussing can get quite tiring, but it is always balanced out with games sessions at night. getting to know others better and just having the opportunity to have fun together(: not to mention we had lunch at ps edwin's house yesterday after church. yet another enjoyable afternoon of food and fellowship.
during yz yesterday, since it was teacher's day, our youths actually prepared gifts for us. they personally wrote letters to their respective leaders and it was really heartwarming receiving letters from my girls. it's been slightly more than 1 1/2 years since i've taken my girls and it can really be tiring to take them for bible study and knowing that they are under my responsibility. getting them to pay attention is a hassle itself, which can sometimes be discouraging. but after receiving their letters, i'm greatly encouraged. i'm glad to know that they've benefitted from the bs sessions. i'm glad to know that they enjoy being in the group. i'm glad to know that they like me as their leader. i guess that's the joy of discipleship. when those under your care say they've grown, it really brings joy from within. of course my girls still have a long way to go in terms of growing in the Word and all, but in whatever area in their life that they are changing and growing in, i'm thankful.
i thank God for the opportunity to lead them. thank God for giving me the strength and wisdom to guide them and give them advice. i'm far from being a good teacher because i always feel like i can't fully express my intentions and knowledge properly in words. but i'm slowly learning. learning to trust in God's abilities and the Holy Spirit and not my own capabilities.
all in all, i'm just thankful for my girls. and i'm excited to see how they will turn out to be when they graduate from yz.
second week of school was manageable. and i recently joined a crusades DG in school. hoping that i'll integrate well into the group and build friendships that will last.
till then,

J.
