i've slightly less than 2 months till my summer break is over. can't believe it. it all happened so fast and i'm so not prepared for school. well, come to think of it, bidding starts next week. like wow. i don't even know what to take.
school aside, i'm actually going to play the piano for some summer production by MIC club in smu. it's a musical like thing where there's a storyline and the songs sung actually flow with the story. reminds me of the starry starry night musical by yz in 2009 (i think). don't really know what to expect, but given the super long list of songs, i'm thinking they're being too ambitious. that's way too many songs to cover in a 1 1/2 hour musical. which means i have to be able to play that many songs, which means i have to find the chords to those songs, which is a nightmare. i just spent an hour plus finding chords for 5/6 songs. and i'm not half way through. since today's the first practice, i'll just go there and see whatever comes.
okay although it's a hassle, at least it's music. and i like music, so i'm not complaining. it's just kinda tedious. trust me, many of the chords you find online are inaccurate. which is annoying because i have to listen to the actual song and correct the chords one by one. but then again, on the bright side, i can train my ears and chord recognition. haha
i've recently been reading a book entitled 'Can we be good without God?' by Paul Chamberlain. it's a nice and easy read that has very interesting perspectives. the book talks about morality of this world, whether it's subjective or objective and the consequences of each should you choose to believe in either. the author presents the ideas in very simple, understandable english and the style of writing makes it interesting. i'm not halfway through the book yet, but i already know that i like it. and the interesting thing about it is also that it gives different views from 1. Christian 2. Atheist 3. Moral relativist 4. Evolutionist 5. Secular humanism. yeah so based on these 5 types of people, you can roughly guess what types of conversations and discussions this book addresses. highly recommended to people who are interested in ethical questions, be it a christian's pov of whatever other beliefs the world adopts.
